Here are some photos of things that have taken my interest in the last week. The exhibition photos are from the Street Art exhibition at the RWA in Bristol. The Phoenix is small pub that's just closed down in Bristol. I love the typeface [more the serifs than the actual lettering] and the combination of matt black and gold.
I decided to revise my entry to 2007's Mercury Music design competition. The basic idea is that each coloured dot represents a drum and from my illustration you can gauge which drum strokes are played when. It is for the song Down by Blink 182. As there is no timing meter displayed it cannot operate as a drum tablature and therefore only works as an illustration.
For my Old Man's 70th BASHday I designed and compiled a book containing photographs of him and messages from family and friends. It was received with great [and emotional] appreciation. Many thanks to all who contributed.
This is a series of illustrations I did based on a personal phrase 'I miss you [more than Bangers misses Mash]'. The images relate to various stages people may encounter in a relationship; sexual arousal; falling in love; parenting; infidelity.
I started out with the idea of drawing 'Owl Chap' with the tag line 'He may be old but he ain't wise', but he turned out more like 'Yeti Fella' so the tag line wasn't really appropriate. He is up a tree though.
